Concession Attendants - Traveling Carnival (10 openings - Temporary, Full-time position, 9/23/17 - 11/5/17), for Sugar Play, Inc. - traveling carnival/amusement co., Gary Cording, sugarplay1@aol.com, travel is required to following event locations: Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, MA (9/23 - 10/1/17), Tulsa State Fair, Tulsa, OK (9/28 - 10/8/17), Arkansas State Fair, Little Rock, AR (10/12 - 10/22/17), Greater Gulf State Fair, Mobile, AL (10/27 - 11/5/17) - operate a Rail Runner skill game, a Block Buster baseball pitching game, a Gun Ball shooting game and a Pongo ball tossing game. The job duties include setting up and dismantling concession equipment, loading and unloading of trucks, serving customers, restocking concessions, daily cleaning and maintenance of concession stand and stand area. This include relating how a game is played and explaining the rules of the game to customers, including pricing and the prize structure for winning, accepting a cash payment for a play, dictating and controlling the play of the game and awarding the appropriate prize. Moreover, it includes unloading the equipment from a tractor trailer and carrying unassembled 14' * 14' concession structures to various areas of a fairground facility, identifying and laying out parts in order of assembly and proceeding to build the framed structure roof while observing proper safety procedures, erecting the structure as a group with other employees and securing it to the ground using sledge hammer and steel stakes, securing tie down ropes to the stakes, assembling the inner structure, including game devices and apparatus, hanging curtains, nets and division walls, installing a portable lighting and an electrical breaker box, assembling and displaying specific merchandise that is to be used within specific games, dismantling, packing and reloading onto the truck. No Education or prior work experience required. Must be physically fit & capable of lifting up to 60 lbs. Prevailing practice and State/Local regulations may require post-hire drug screens and or criminal background checks performed at the employer’s expense. 40 hrs per wk. Work days vary per event schedule, 10am - 7pm, but may vary due to weather, etc. $11.52 per hr for all events. No o/t. Merit pay and/or bonuses may be awarded at employer’s discretion. Employer will pay the cost of lodging to the extent such costs would reduce pay below the offered wage rate for the area of intended employment. Employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law. Employer will provide transportation & at no charge, tools, supplies & equipment to perform job. Transportation, including meals & lodging, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if worker completes half the employment period.
